Expanded investment in modern ground support equipment is underway at Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC as the aviation services provider takes delivery of new ultra-modern machinery aimed at strengthening aircraft handling operations across its nationwide network.

The latest acquisition includes a state-of-the-art pushback tractor manufactured by Goldhofer, a globally respected German producer of Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The Goldhofer F300, powered by a robust diesel engine, is designed to service most wide-body aircraft and built with rugged materials suited to Nigeria’s operating terrain.

According to the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Adetola Uansohia, the equipment has already been deployed to one of SAHCO’s hub stations to reinforce service delivery standards and operational efficiency.

In addition to the pushback tractor, SAHCO has procured five new Ground Power Units (GPUs) manufactured in France by Guinault, a renowned global aviation equipment manufacturer. Each GPU has a capacity of 45kVA at 115 volts and 115 on 28VDC, enabling them to provide reliable and efficient electrical power to aircraft systems while on the ground.

Powered by fuel-efficient gasoline engines, the GPUs are engineered for durability, portability, and optimal ramp performance. The advanced units can support most Class A aircraft as well as select Class B aircraft. Their compact design is intended to reduce fuel consumption, while their rugged construction ensures long-term reliability and operational flexibility, particularly in high-traffic airport environments.

The company stated that the acquisition forms part of its broader strategy of continuous investment in cutting-edge GSE to improve safety standards, reduce aircraft turnaround time, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver world-class service to airline partners.

As the only aviation ground handling company with operational presence across all commercially operated airports in Nigeria, SAHCO noted that it remains committed to setting industry benchmarks through equipment upgrades, technological advancement, and service innovation.

The addition of the new pushback tractor and GPUs further consolidates the company’s leadership position in aviation ground handling in Africa, underpinned by a focus on excellence, reliability, and customer-centred solutions.
