Nigeria’s growing reputation for homegrown enterprise and sustainable investment came into focus as Abdulrazaq Isa, co-founder and chairman of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, marked his 65th birthday, drawing commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Isa as a business leader whose professional journey reflects the strength and potential of Nigerian entrepreneurship. He noted that Isa’s career, spanning more than three decades across banking and enterprise, has been instrumental in building Waltersmith Petroman into one of the country’s leading indigenous oil and gas companies.
The President said the transformation of Waltersmith Petroman from a modest local venture into what he termed a global brand demonstrates the depth of Nigerian business capacity and reinforces the country’s appeal as a destination for long-term, sustainable investment.
According to Tinubu, the achievements of entrepreneurs such as Isa continue to strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s business environment. He observed that their efforts affirm the nation’s viability as a fertile ground for investments, particularly at a time when economic diversification and private-sector leadership remain critical national goals.
The President further commended Isa’s resilience and widely acknowledged business acumen, highlighting his contributions to the oil and gas sector, which remains central to Nigeria’s revenue generation and energy-security aspirations.
