Nollywood actress and producer Iyabo Ojo has shared a moving tribute to the late mother of her colleague, Funke Akindele, recounting a critical moment in 2004 when the doctor intervened to save her children, Festus and Priscilla.
The actress’s comment came in response to Funke Akindele’s recent Instagram post marking the third anniversary of her mother’s passing. In the post, Akindele described her mother as a selfless and influential figure whose teachings and discipline shaped her life and career. She thanked her mother for the strong foundation and quality education she provided, and pledged to continue making her proud through her conduct and achievements.
In the comment section, Iyabo Ojo echoed Akindele’s sentiments with a personal recollection of the late woman’s compassion and professionalism. Ojo described how the doctor’s timely intervention and prayers helped avert a potentially tragic situation involving her children when they were young.
“She said, ‘No. Not on my watch,’” Ojo wrote, recalling the reassurance she received during a time of fear and uncertainty. She also highlighted the late doctor’s spiritual depth, noting that she continued to pray for Ojo even during periods of disagreement between her and Akindele.
Ojo described the late woman as a “mother to all,” praising her kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. She concluded her tribute with a heartfelt message, calling her a beautiful soul and asking her to rest in peace.
“A great doctor she was and an even greater prayer warrior,” Ojo wrote. “She was indeed a mother to all. I will always love her. Rest on, mama.”
