Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Face Idibia, has expressed strong optimism about the future of Afrobeats, pushing back against concerns that the genre could lose its global momentum.

Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Yaw on Wazobia FM, the “African Queen” hitmaker insisted that Afrobeats is far from fading, pointing instead to the continuous rise of new talents as proof of its longevity.

According to the veteran singer, the strength of the genre lies in its ability to evolve through younger artists who are bringing fresh energy, sound, and creativity into the scene.

“Afrobeats can never die,” he said. “If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists now, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands.”

Highlighting a recent example, 2Face praised an emerging act, Fola, who reinterpreted his song “If Love Is a Crime.” He commended the remake for its smooth delivery and distinct vocal style, describing it as a reflection of the new wave of artistry shaping Afrobeats today.

“The present crops of artists have special flows. I love their styles,” he added.

His comments come at a time when Afrobeats continues to enjoy widespread international recognition, with Nigerian artists consistently charting globally and influencing mainstream music trends. For 2Face, the pipeline of young, innovative performers ensures that the genre will not only endure but continue to thrive on the world stage.
