Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CEO Lisa Su is scheduled to visit South Korea next week to meet with top executives at Samsung Electronics and Naver, in discussions expected to focus on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supplies and broader AI technology collaboration, according to the Maeil Business Newspaper.

Su’s trip, set to begin on March 18, will include meetings with Samsung Chairman Jay Y. Lee and Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon, the report said, citing unnamed industry sources. While Naver confirmed a scheduled meeting with Su, the company declined to provide details about the agenda. Samsung Electronics also declined to comment.

The discussions come amid surging global demand for memory chips, including HBM, DRAM, and NAND, technologies that are critical for powering artificial intelligence systems and large-scale data centers. AMD, along with rivals such as Nvidia, has been expanding its AI-focused computing infrastructure, driving increased demand for these memory solutions.

In addition to supply chain issues, Su is expected to explore broader collaboration opportunities with Naver, South Korea’s largest internet portal and search engine operator. These discussions could touch on semiconductor support for domestic data centers, building sovereign AI infrastructure, and developing next-generation computing technologies.

Her visit is also expected to coincide with Nvidia’s annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC), which runs from March 16 to 19 in San Jose, California, a key event for AI and high-performance computing developments.
