The organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have announced that nominations for the 2026 edition will be unveiled on Sunday, March 29.

The live nomination broadcast will be hosted by Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo and is scheduled to air at 7:00 p.m. WAT across Africa Magic channels. In a statement shared by the organisers, viewers were encouraged to tune in to witness the unveiling of nominees for what is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most prestigious film and television awards platforms.

Now in its 12th edition, the AMVCA will feature a total of 32 categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards and 11 audience-voted categories. The event will also include special recognition honours such as the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Trailblazer Award.

As part of efforts to promote inclusivity and cultural diversity across the continent, new categories have been introduced this year, including Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. These additions reflect the awards’ growing emphasis on Pan-African storytelling and the preservation of indigenous cultures.

The main awards ceremony is slated to take place in Lagos in May 2026, where top talents in African film and television will be celebrated.
