Public discourse around Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 general election continues to gather momentum, with Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan openly declaring his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

Speaking at a campaign event, the actor defended the policies of the current government, offering a personal perspective on the country’s economic realities. Afolayan stated that despite widespread concerns about hardship, he is “doing very well,” suggesting that individual experiences may differ from prevailing public sentiment.

He also commended President Tinubu’s diplomatic engagement with the United Arab Emirates, particularly efforts that led to the easing of travel restrictions previously imposed on Nigerians. According to Afolayan, the move demonstrated the administration’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s international relations and restoring opportunities for citizens abroad.

While acknowledging that Nigeria faces significant challenges, the actor expressed concern that public criticism often overshadows what he described as the government’s positive strides. He maintained that Tinubu’s leadership is focused on fostering unity across the country, which he cited as a key reason for his support.

On security, Afolayan stirred controversy by suggesting that reports of insurgency may be exaggerated, urging Nigerians to be cautious about how such issues are portrayed in the media.

His remarks have added to ongoing conversations about governance, economic conditions, and national security, as political alignments and public endorsements begin to shape the narrative ahead of the next election cycle.
