Traders and residents in Oshodi benefited from a community sanitation exercise and free medical services as ASHA Microfinance Bank carried out a Clean-A-Market campaign and health outreach at the busy Oshodi Market. The initiative also coincided with the unveiling of the bank’s Mafoluku-Oshodi branch, aimed at expanding access to financial services for traders and small business owners.

The initiative was designed to complement efforts by the Lagos State Government to maintain cleaner, safer and more organised markets across the state.

Activities for the day began with a coordinated sanitation exercise within the market. Bank staff, traders, volunteers and community leaders participated in the Clean-A-Market campaign, working together to clear waste and improve the general environment of the market.

Following the sanitation drive, the bank organised a free medical outreach for traders and members of the surrounding community. The programme offered basic health screenings, medical consultations and other essential healthcare services, giving many participants the opportunity to check their health status and receive professional advice at no cost.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Mafoluku-Oshodi branch of ASHA Microfinance Bank. According to the bank, the new facility reflects its commitment to improving customer comfort, convenience and the overall banking experience for clients in the area.

Beyond the physical upgrade, the new branch represents the bank’s broader investment in service excellence and financial inclusion, particularly for traders and small-scale entrepreneurs who depend on accessible financial services to grow their businesses.

Speaking during the event, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Funmilola Paseda‑Oladoyinbo, described the initiative as part of the institution’s broader commitment to community development.

She noted that the campaign goes beyond environmental sanitation or healthcare support, emphasizing that the bank remains dedicated to improving the well-being of the communities it serves.

According to her, supporting people’s health, businesses and overall quality of life is a key part of the bank’s mission, adding that community development should be considered an integral responsibility of financial institutions.

To sustain the sanitation effort, the outreach concluded with the presentation of a waste bin to market authorities, encouraging traders and stakeholders to maintain a cleaner and healthier market environment.
