Nollywood and gospel music mourn the loss of Onos Brisibi, the acclaimed singer whose voice brought life to iconic film soundtracks, including Domitilla and Blood Money. She passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 55, after battling a prolonged illness.

Her death was confirmed on Thursday through a heartfelt tribute on Instagram by veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), who described Brisibi as a “devout Christian and a gifted vocalist whose music touched countless lives.”

In his post, RMD shared personal memories of Brisibi, recalling her warmth, humor, and the joy she spread through her ministry and music. “Onos was more than family—she was love in human form,” he wrote. “A devoted Christian, a beautiful soul, and a gifted songstress whose voice carried so much light and joy. She didn’t just sing; she ministered, lifting hearts and drawing people closer to God.”

Born on November 20, 1970, to Apostle Ambrose Oproze Brisibi (late) and Deaconess Mary Koko Brisibi of Aladja, Udu, Delta State, Brisibi’s talent became a defining feature of Nollywood soundtracks in the 1990s and early 2000s. Her music resonated with audiences across generations, blending gospel spirituality with a distinct vocal style that made her performances unforgettable.

RMD also recounted playful moments from their shared past, highlighting Brisibi’s lively personality and her affectionate, lighthearted interactions with family and friends. He described the actress-singer’s signature accent and joyful demeanor, writing, “Through it all, her laughter never left her—and it still echoes in our hearts now.”

Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah Brisibi, her mother, siblings, extended family, and the community at LoveWorld Ministries, where she had been an active member.

Her passing leaves a void in both the gospel music scene and Nollywood, yet her contributions continue to inspire, and her voice remains a lasting legacy for fans and fellow artists alike.
