Luxury fashion and literature rarely meet in the same accessory, but Bvlgari is making a case for exactly that. In its January 2026 Icons Minaudière campaign, the renowned Italian house merges storytelling with high jewellery by placing culture quite literally inside a sculptural gold clutch—complete with a miniature book by celebrated Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The campaign, titled “Carrying Culture,” introduces Adichie as a Friend of the House and one of five Global Icons selected to represent the brand’s latest artistic vision. Shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Ethan James Green, the imagery presents Adichie in an elegant off-the-shoulder white architectural gown. Her long braids are pulled back to frame her face, while gold jewellery—including the iconic Bvlgari B.zero1 Ring—adds a refined glow to the minimalist styling.

Beside her sits the centerpiece of the campaign: a sculptural circular gold clutch from the Icons Minaudière collection, designed by Greek fashion designer Mary Katrantzou. The piece draws inspiration from the classic Bvlgari Bvlgari jewellery motif, featuring a mother-of-pearl face framed by an engraved gold rim. The design is both ornamental and symbolic, intended to hold a tiny book—transforming the accessory into a literal vessel for storytelling.

In a video released alongside the campaign, Adichie reflected on the philosophy behind her writing and the enduring role of fiction.

“I write realistic fiction… the kind of fiction that I hope will give someone who reads it a hundred years from now an idea of how we live today,” she said. “Life is messy, but novels should strive for emotional truth.”

The brand describes her contribution as an exploration of how culture is shaped by our deepest emotions and human experiences—an idea that aligns closely with Adichie’s literary work. Known for examining identity, memory, and social realities, her writing continues to influence conversations around culture and storytelling globally.

Adichie appears in the campaign alongside an impressive group of cultural figures: supermodel Linda Evangelista, actress Isabella Rossellini, South Korean actress Kim Ji-won, and architect Sumayya Vally. Together, they represent the five Global Icons chosen to embody the campaign’s intersection of art, design, and cultural influence.

The partnership arrives during a particularly active moment in Adichie’s career. Her latest novel, Dream Count, has quickly become one of the year’s most discussed literary releases. The book follows four interconnected women as they navigate love, identity, and the layered complexities of contemporary life.

With “Carrying Culture,” Bvlgari offers more than a luxury accessory—it presents an object that blurs the boundaries between fashion and literature, suggesting that culture, like jewellery, can be something worth carrying with you.
