E1 Welcomes Washdown as Official Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Supplier to Drive Sustainable Marine Innovation

E1 today announces Washdown as the Official Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Supplier for the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF.

Washdown will provide a range of ocean-safe products to clean, maintain and protect the E1 RaceBird fleet, further deepening the series’ marine responsibility commitments.

Engineered for high-performance marine environments, Monaco-based Washdown’s biotechnology solutions deliver professional-grade performance while safeguarding crews, equipment and the marine environment.

Rather than traditional aggressive chemicals that often clean the surface leaving residues, Washdown formulates its non-toxic, Volatile Organic Compound-free, pH neutral products with naturally derived ingredients. Enzymes and beneficial bacteria in Washdown’s products break down dirt to organic matter, protecting surfaces from dirt.

The partnership further strengthens E1’s commitment to preserving our oceans and coastal ecosystems worldwide as well as being safer for crews and sea life.

Under the pressure of E1’s elite global racing competition, Washdown’s products will be put to the ultimate test in real-world, high-performance conditions that rely on durability, safety and performance.

The partnership with Washdown was born when E1 collaborated with MonacoTech, the Principality’s official start-up incubator, at last year’s E1 Monaco race to spotlight early-stage blue economy innovators and connect them to new investors and markets.

Professor Carlos Durate, E1 Chief Scientist, said: “E1 continues to push the boundaries of performance and sustainability using the mobile innovation laboratory that a global racing Championship is.

“This partnership between E1 and Washdown helps to clean and protect our E1 RaceBird fleet and it does so free of harmful chemicals present in general market products. This protects our teams, crew and marine life wherever we race, showing how high performance and sustainable marine innovation work hand in hand.”

Leah Tennant, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Washdown, said: “At Washdown we believe sustainability, human health and material care should never be an afterthought. They sit at the centre of everything we do. Our proprietary biotechnology cleaning systems were originally engineered for high-performance marine environments, making this partnership with E1 a natural alignment.

“E1 showcases how elite technology, innovation and ambition can come together to create real impact, bringing together world-class teams, engineers and partners who are pushing industries forward.

“We share a belief in challenging outdated norms and changing cultures through innovation. We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and the opportunity to demonstrate the future of cleaning through science-led solutions that protect human health, high-value materials and the environments luxury industries operate within.”

E1 is the world’s first and only all-electric raceboat championship sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the international governing body for powerboating activities.

The Championship was established to accelerate innovation in electric marine technologies while promoting cleaner, more sustainable urban waters and coastal environments.

Racing in iconic cities around the world including Jeddah, Monaco, Lake Como, Lagos and Miami, E1 teams are owned by leading figures from sport, entertainment and business, including LeBron James, Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Will Smith, Didier Drogba, Marc Anthony and Steve Aoki.

Teams field both a male and female pilot, racing the electric E1 RaceBirds on tight, technical circuits designed to showcase performance, agility and control.

Washdown is a proprietary biotechnology cleaning brand designed for high-performance environments, inspired by biomimicry and grounded in the elements, protecting what matters most: people, the environment and materials.

Originally developed within the superyacht industry, Washdown uses proprietary biotechnology that works with natural biological processes to break down contamination at the source rather than masking it with chemicals.

The formulas are non-abrasive, VOC-free and designed to protect human health, preserve high-value materials, reduce environmental impact and protect ecosystems.

Beyond developing products, Washdown campaigns to raise awareness about the hidden risks of traditional cleaning systems and works to change the culture of cleaning.
