The highly anticipated film adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s acclaimed novel, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, is taking shape with the announcement of additional cast members, promising a star-studded ensemble for the December 2026 Christmas release.

The film, produced and spearheaded by filmmaker and media executive Mo Abudu, has already garnered attention for its ambitious collaboration among four major African media companies: EbonyLife Group, Genesis Group, Nile Media Entertainment Group, and Silverbird Group. The project marks EbonyLife’s significant return to theatrical filmmaking after five years primarily focused on streaming content.

Sharing the news on her Instagram page on Monday, Abudu described the casting as a continuation of the creative journey that aims to bring the rich, intricate narrative of Shoneyin’s novel to the screen with authenticity and emotional depth.

The newly announced cast includes seasoned actors such as Faithia Balogun Williams, Damilola Adegbite, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Mike Ezuronye, Blessing Jessica Obasi, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Maleek of Ikorodu Bois, and Mallu Marik. They join a previously revealed ensemble featuring Odunlade Adekola as Baba Segi, alongside Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Ademoye, Omowunmi Dada, Shaffy Bello, Bisola Aiyeola, Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bolaji Ogunmola, Bimbo Manuel, Tina Mba, Daniel Effiong, Femi Branch, Rotimi Fakunle, Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori, and Constance Olatunde.

Set within the complex dynamics of a polygamous household, the story uncovers hidden secrets, intricate relationships, and simmering tensions behind closed doors, promising a compelling adaptation that resonates with contemporary audiences.

The December 2026 global theatrical release is expected to be a landmark moment for Nollywood, showcasing a coordinated effort by leading African media powerhouses to deliver a production of scale, ambition, and cultural significance.
