The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In his message, he extended warm congratulations to Muslim faithful across the country for the successful completion of the fasting period.
According to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Muslims to uphold the values cultivated during Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.
Tunji-Ojo also called on all Nigerians, regardless of religious affiliation, to use the festive period as an opportunity to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and continued progress. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in building a harmonious society.
While wishing Muslims a joyful and fulfilling celebration, the government encouraged citizens to mark the occasion responsibly and to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, in line with the spirit of the season.
The statement reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse population.
