Google is broadening the horizons of AI-generated music with the introduction of Lyria 3 Pro, an advanced version of its creative music model, alongside expanded access to its AI music tools across multiple Google products. The update brings longer, more structurally sophisticated tracks and greater customization for creators, developers, and businesses.

Building on last month’s release of Lyria 3, which introduced custom music generation aimed at fostering creative expression, Lyria 3 Pro allows users to generate tracks up to three minutes long. It incorporates an improved understanding of musical composition, enabling prompts that specify song elements such as intros, verses, choruses, and bridges. This makes it possible to experiment with complex styles, transitions, and fully realized musical arrangements.

Expanding Access Across Google Platforms

Google is making it easier to generate music wherever creativity happens:

  • Vertex AI: Lyria 3 Pro is now in public preview on Vertex AI, allowing businesses to scale high-fidelity audio production. Use cases range from creating bespoke soundtracks for gaming to integrating music generation into creative software, video platforms, and other tools.

  • Google AI Studio and Gemini API: Developers building the next generation of creative tools can leverage Lyria 3 Pro for its enhanced musical awareness and structural coherence. Lyria 3 Pro is now available alongside Lyria RealTime in AI Studio, offering flexible options for innovative music applications.

  • Google Vids: The AI-powered video creation app now includes both Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro. Users can add custom music to videos, marketing campaigns, or personal projects. The feature is rolling out to Google Workspace customers and Google AI Pro & Ultra subscribers starting this week.

  • Gemini App: Paid subscribers can now use Lyria 3 Pro for longer, more detailed tracks. This extended creative space supports personalized music for vlogs, podcasts, tutorials, and other content that benefits from richer, more immersive audio.

  • ProducerAI: This collaborative music creation platform, designed by musicians for musicians, now integrates Lyria 3 Pro to support iteration on full-length songs. The tool is available globally to free and paid users, helping artists, producers, and songwriters at all levels refine their creative ideas.

Partnering with Artists and the Industry

Google emphasizes responsible AI development through collaboration with musicians and producers. Insights from the Music AI Sandbox—a suite of experimental tools for creators—have helped shape Lyria 3 and its Pro counterpart.

Grammy-winning producer Yung Spielburg used Lyria in the scoring process for the Google DeepMind short film Dear Upstairs Neighbors, while DJ and producer François K incorporated the tool into the iterative creation of a forthcoming track. François K remarked:

“Having explored the vast landscape of music tools, the progress on Lyria 3 is incredible, especially the fidelity and musicality. The fashion in which I use generative AI tools never boils down to 'one-button-click' prompting. Instead, it’s becoming a versatile part of my arsenal, allowing me to refine ideas with realism and precision.”

Responsible Design and Content Integrity

Lyria 3 Pro was developed with careful attention to copyright and ethical AI use. The model uses materials Google and YouTube have rights to under terms of service and partner agreements, and it does not mimic individual artists. Named creators in prompts are treated as broad inspiration rather than templates. All outputs include SynthID, an imperceptible watermark to identify Google AI-generated content, and users must follow Terms of Service and prohibited use policies.

With Lyria 3 Pro, Google aims to empower a wide range of users—from professionals and developers to everyday creators—to craft high-quality music that is both innovative and responsible.
