Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has opened up about the emotional toll of her divorce from fellow actor Patrick Doyle, years after their separation.
The actress, who first confirmed the end of their marriage in January 2023 without going into details, addressed the issue more directly during a recent interview with media personality Morayo Brown. Her remarks mark one of the rare occasions she has publicly reflected on the failed union.
Speaking candidly, Ireti described the experience as deeply painful, emphasizing that the breakdown of a long-term marriage is never easy. However, she maintained that her decision to keep details private was deliberate, stressing that the circumstances surrounding the separation are not for public consumption.
According to her, the only people entitled to explanations are close family members and friends who were present at the beginning of the marriage. She dismissed public curiosity, stating that the wider audience often does not have a genuine stake in such personal matters.
The actress also expressed strong reservations about media sensationalism, making it clear that she has no intention of allowing her personal life to be turned into clickbait content. While acknowledging the emotional weight of the separation, she stood firm on maintaining boundaries between her private life and public image.
Despite their split, both Ireti and Patrick Doyle have continued to maintain professionalism in their careers, occasionally appearing in similar industry circles without public conflict. Her latest comments have reignited conversations about privacy, respect, and the pressures faced by public figures navigating personal challenges in the spotlight.
