....Issues Eid Warning to Tricycle Operators, Event Organisers

Authorities in Kano State have announced stricter measures ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, warning commercial tricycle operators against displaying inappropriate images or messages on their vehicles.

The directive was issued by the Kano State Censorship Board in a statement released on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman. According to the agency, the move is part of broader efforts to maintain order and uphold moral standards during the festive period.

The Board said it would also intensify monitoring of recreational and entertainment centres across the state, with particular attention to issues such as indecent dressing among youths and what it described as improper interactions between males and females.

As part of its enforcement strategy, the agency disclosed that three monitoring committees have been set up to oversee activities throughout the celebrations. The committees will operate under the supervision of the Director of Film Production and Development, Usman Dankwano.

In addition, the Board cautioned event organisers against hosting Sallah shows, musical performances, or operating open entertainment and viewing centres without obtaining official approval. It warned that defaulters would face sanctions in line with existing regulations.

Reaffirming its stance, the agency emphasised its commitment to ensuring that all activities during the Eid festivities align with the cultural and moral expectations of the state.
