Earlier, she had electrified the semifinals with a personal best of 11.26 seconds—a time that now stands as both a meet record and the Nigerian U-20 season lead, placing her joint fifth on the country’s all-time list in that category.
She finished ahead of Lucy Nwankwo, who clocked 11.65 seconds for second place, while Rosemary Nwankwo secured third in 11.78 seconds. Both runners had earlier impressed in the semifinals, with Lucy’s 11.52 seconds earning her qualification for the World U-20 Championships and Rosemary posting a strong 11.44 seconds.
Strong Performances Across Events
The men’s Junior 100m saw Emmanuel Akolo of Team MTN emerge victorious in a wind-assisted 10.63 seconds, outperforming his MoC Athletics Academy teammates Reuben Destiny (10.74s) and Alvin Onyeama (10.76s).
In the senior women’s sprints, Toheebat Jimoh impressed with a double podium finish—winning the 100m in a personal best of 12.03 seconds and taking silver in the 400m with a season’s best of 53.88 seconds. She edged out Ojone Akubo-Adegbe and Chidera Ajeroh in the 100m final.
The men’s 100m title went to Okechukwu Ezeh, who maintained his semifinal form to win in 10.61 seconds, ahead of Aina Precious (10.70s) and Enoch Dabo (10.76s).
Youth and Cadet Categories Deliver Excitement
In the Youth Boys’ 100m, Fervent Edet upgraded his previous silver to gold with an impressive 11.15 seconds run. Shabi Weynom and Matthew Ngowu followed in second and third place respectively.
The Youth Girls’ 100m title was claimed by Rebecca Enilolobo, who edged out Rofiat Bakare and Josephine Onyemauche.
Among cadets, Honor Anthony won the girls’ 100m in 14.50 seconds, narrowly beating Nantap Zachariah and Acelynn Alex. The boys’ race was taken by Attach Boyi in 13.18 seconds.
Dominance in the 400m Events
The 400m races were equally competitive. Ezekiel Asuquo clinched the men’s title with a lifetime best of 46.26 seconds, ahead of Benjamin Magaji and Mfoniso Frank—both of whom also recorded personal bests.
In the Junior category, Michael Aniche continued his fine form, surging to victory in 48.19 seconds, with Prosper Ushie and Chinedu Victor completing the podium.
The women’s 400m was won by Faustina Obi in 55.40 seconds, finishing ahead of Chioma Edeh and Oluchi Ezeh.
Meanwhile, Chizoba Onyemauwa delivered a commanding performance in the Youth Girls’ 400m, winning in a personal best of 58.19 seconds. The Youth Boys’ race was won by Zikirullah Ibrahim.
