Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the Super Eagles’ upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan, citing a back injury sustained during Fulham’s 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley last weekend.

With the first friendly against Iran scheduled for Friday, head coach Eric Chelle is unlikely to call up a replacement, leaving the squad short of the 24 players initially expected in camp.

In positive news for the team, captain Wilfred Ndidi has arrived at the squad’s base at the Bellis Deluxe Hotel in Antalya, Turkey, bringing the number of players currently in camp to 22.

The Super Eagles will face Iran and Jordan as part of their preparations ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures, with the squad aiming to build cohesion despite the late injury setback.
