The Ogun State Police Command has denied reports that social media content creator, comedian, and actor Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, was shot in Ota, Ogun State.
The statement follows viral claims that the comedian had been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge last Sunday afternoon. According to the reports, Broda Shaggi was initially treated at a medical facility in the Alakuko area of Lagos State before being transferred to a high-scale hospital in Lagos for further care.
However, neither Broda Shaggi nor his management team has issued a statement regarding the alleged incident.
In response, the Ogun Police Command, through its spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, clarified on Friday that no such incident had been reported within the state. Babaseyi noted that investigations are underway to verify the accuracy of the circulating claims.
The statement read in part: “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to address reports alleging that the entertainer Broda Shaggi was shot within Ogun State. For clarity, the Command cannot confirm that such an incident occurred anywhere within its jurisdiction. Additionally, no such incident has been reported at any Police formation across the State.
“In line with the Command’s commitment to professionalism and transparency, investigations have been initiated to ascertain the facts and verify the claim. The Command is actively carrying out necessary investigations to determine the true circumstances of the report.
“Citizens are advised to rely solely on official Police communication while the investigation runs its course. The Command remains committed to the safety of all residents and the maintenance of law and order across Ogun State.”
As the story continues to circulate on social media, authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information regarding the popular entertainer.
