Pastor Chris Okafor has recanted the apology he previously issued to actress Doris Ogala over allegations of a long-term secret relationship, calling his earlier apology the result of external pressure rather than genuine remorse.

The controversy first erupted after a video of Okafor engaging with a young woman surfaced on social media, prompting Ogala to publicly call out the clergyman for allegedly ending their eight-year sexual relationship despite promises of marriage. Ogala also accused him of involvement in other scandalous and criminal activities and demanded compensation.

Previous Apology and $10,000 Compensation

In the midst of the backlash, Okafor reportedly gave Ogala $10,000, an amount the actress deemed insufficient given the evidence she claims to possess. During a subsequent Sunday service, Okafor went on to issue an open apology to Ogala and other women he said he had hurt, seeking forgiveness publicly.

Despite the apology, Ogala continued to criticize the cleric publicly, keeping the matter in the spotlight.

Okafor Reverses Course

In a now-viral video shared on social media, Okafor told his congregation that he had issued the apology under pressure from friends he no longer considers trustworthy. He referred to Ogala as a “Jezebel” and insisted that his earlier apology was not personal.

“There’s no apology for what I didn’t do or for someone I haven’t met face to face. I was pressured by people I called friends but who are not,” he said.

Okafor explained that his public apology was meant to protect senior faith leaders, naming Pastor Bishop Abioye and Matthew, from public criticism, rather than addressing Ogala directly.

“Firstly, the reason why I apologised was that the fathers of faith were being dragged. And I did not want them to be dragged. I knelt down because of those fathers. Not because of any Jezebel anywhere,” he stated.

Ongoing Legal Implications

The situation remains tense, with Okafor indicating he intends to resolve the matter through legal channels. The controversy is further complicated by allegations from his second daughter, Amara Okafor, who has reportedly threatened to press charges against him for assault and abuse.

The saga continues to generate significant attention on social media, with both the actress and the clergyman maintaining high-profile public stances in what is shaping up to be a prolonged dispute.
