Nollywood actress Remi Surutu has publicly declared her support for the re-election of Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during the launch of EKO57, a political support group established to mobilise grassroots backing for the President’s second-term ambition.
Speaking at the event, Surutu addressed criticism surrounding her political stance, stressing that her loyalty to Tinubu dates back to his tenure as governor of Lagos State. She recalled facing backlash during the 2023 elections but said she remained resolute in her support.
According to the actress, attempts were made to discourage her from voting, including claims linking Tinubu to personal tragedy in her life. However, she said she dismissed such assertions and exercised her right at the polls.
Surutu reaffirmed her commitment to actively campaign for the President, maintaining that she would not be intimidated by opposing views or public pressure.
She also praised Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as dedicated to addressing the country’s challenges. In her remarks, she highlighted the involvement of members of his family in public service, portraying it as a reflection of commitment to national development.
The actress further argued that some of Nigeria’s challenges stem from societal attitudes, while expressing confidence in the President’s capacity to steer the country forward.
The EKO57 group is expected to play a role in building political momentum ahead of the next election cycle, as early alignments and endorsements begin to take shape.
