Speaking during a recent livestream interview, the Maybach Music Group boss said his ideal record would bring together Jamaican reggae icon Bob Marley, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy.
Ross said a collaboration involving the quartet would be a landmark musical moment.
“If I had a dream collaboration right now, it would be Rick Ross, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti and Burna Boy. Imagine such a record. To me, that’s king-level. That’s next level,” he said.
The rapper also revealed that he would love to include Nigerian-British music icon Sade Adu in the project if the opportunity ever arose.
According to him, working with Sade would be a major achievement, though he admitted it might be difficult to make happen.
“I am the boss but I don’t know if I could get Sade to collaborate with me. I will put that on the wish list. I love Sade. Salute queen,” Ross added.
Rick Ross has previously shown admiration for African music and culture, with his comments adding to the growing recognition of Afrobeats and Afrobeat influences within the global music scene.
