Nigerian content creator Shank Comics, born Adesokan Emmanuel, has been named Best Streamer 2026 at the prestigious SiGMA Africa Awards, held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The award was presented on March 3 during the summit’s gala night, drawing applause from attendees at the high-profile event, which celebrates gaming, technology, and digital innovation across Africa.
The Best Streamer category recognises creators who demonstrate exceptional audience engagement and consistency in content delivery. Organisers noted that the honour reflects the growing influence of African digital talents—particularly from Nigeria—on the global streaming landscape.
Shank Comics first gained attention through short comedy skits depicting relatable Nigerian experiences. He later transitioned into live streaming, building a strong online community through interactive sessions and collaborations. His international profile rose further following joint streams and appearances with global creators such as iShowSpeed and Kai Cenat, expanding his reach beyond Africa.
Footage from the Cape Town ceremony showed Shank Comics taking the stage to receive his plaque and thanking fans and supporters for their continued backing. Social media platforms were soon flooded with congratulatory messages celebrating the milestone, although a few users questioned the timing of the recognition.
The SiGMA Africa Awards form part of a broader continental summit that highlights excellence in iGaming, emerging technology, and digital entrepreneurship.
