The world number two delivered a composed performance, winning 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) to secure his seventh consecutive victory over the German and his fourth career appearance in the Miami showpiece. He will now face Jiri Lehecka in Sunday’s final.
Sinner’s latest triumph adds to what has been a remarkable run during the North American hard-court swing. The Italian recently lifted the title at Indian Wells and is now on course to complete the prestigious “Sunshine Double”—a feat last achieved by Roger Federer in 2017.
Reflecting on his form, Sinner described the stretch as one of the most impressive periods of his career. The reigning Wimbledon champion, who has claimed four Grand Slam titles, has now won 16 consecutive matches in ATP Masters 1000 events and extended his streak of sets won to 32.
Despite the straight-sets result, the semi-final encounter proved competitive, particularly in the second set where Zverev pushed the Italian into a tie-break. Sinner credited his serving under pressure as a decisive factor, especially in key moments late in the match.
“It has been an incredible swing,” Sinner said. “Today was very tough. He played some incredible tennis, but I served very well when it mattered most. Being back in the final here means a lot to me.”
Earlier in the day, Lehecka produced a dominant display to reach his first ATP Masters 1000 final. The 21st seed needed just one hour and 15 minutes to dispatch Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2.
The Czech player expressed excitement at the milestone but struck a reflective tone, acknowledging broader realities beyond the sport.
“I’m very excited to be in a final,” Lehecka said. “At the same time, it’s just sport. There are more important things happening in the world. I’m just trying to do what I do best.”
With both players in strong form, Sunday’s final promises a compelling contest as Sinner targets another milestone in an already standout season, while Lehecka looks to secure the biggest title of his career.
