A pupil of Transcorp Power School has clinched the top prize at the 2025 Delta State Primary School Mathematics Competition, underscoring the impact of sustained investment in education within host communities.

Transcorp Power Plc announced that Etagbedavwe Amwarha emerged as the overall winner of the statewide contest, outperforming other finalists in a rigorous, multi-stage competition organised by the Delta State Government.

The competition assessed pupils’ mathematical abilities through three distinct stages. It began with 172 participants drawn from various Local Government Areas across the state. From this pool, 41 pupils representing the Delta Central Senatorial District progressed to the second round.

The contest was eventually narrowed to eight finalists from across Delta State, who converged in Asaba for the grand finale. Competing against the best at that level, Amwarha distinguished himself to emerge as the overall winner.

The company described the achievement as a reflection of its commitment to advancing educational excellence and supporting youth development within its host communities.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Power Plc, Peter Ikenga, reiterated the organisation’s broader vision beyond power generation. He noted that the company remains dedicated to fostering growth and creating opportunities through targeted investments in education.

According to him, empowering young people through learning initiatives is a key pillar of the company’s community engagement strategy, and such efforts will continue to receive priority attention.

Also commenting, the Principal of Transcorp Power School, Emeji Okeoghene, described the victory as a shared accomplishment. She attributed the success to the collective efforts of the school’s teachers, the dedication of its pupils, and the enabling support provided by Transcorp Power Plc.

In his reaction, Etagbedavwe Amwarha expressed appreciation to his parents, teachers, and the company for creating an environment that nurtured his academic growth. He added that the recognition has further motivated him to strive for greater achievements.

Transcorp Power Plc noted that the success aligns with its broader corporate social responsibility initiatives across the Niger Delta. These include programmes such as VSTEEP, the Transcorp Ignite Internship Programme, and its collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, which has supported more than 1,200 entrepreneurs.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s development by supporting the country’s energy transition, enhancing grid reliability, and delivering sustainable value to its stakeholders, while continuing to invest in initiatives that uplift its host communities.
