Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has highlighted the importance of maintaining clear boundaries with female colleagues while filming, particularly during intimate scenes.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Igbo, the actor explained that he prioritises open conversations with actresses before filming such scenes in order to ensure mutual understanding and professionalism on set.

According to him, discussing comfort levels beforehand helps prevent awkward situations and protects both actors from misunderstandings.

“I always discuss boundaries with any female colleague I’m asked to act with. I make sure we talk about what is acceptable before we start filming,” he said.

Arukwe added that he is careful to avoid actions that could make his co-stars or their partners uncomfortable, noting that he takes his personal values and marital status seriously.

“I avoid touching areas that could make the actress or her partner uncomfortable. I am a married man,” he said.

The actor, who gained widespread attention for portraying Odogwu Paranran in the film Love in Every Word produced by Omoni Oboli, also addressed rumours linking him romantically with some of his colleagues.

He dismissed the speculation, stating that such assumptions stem from on-screen roles rather than real-life relationships.

“The rumours about me and different women are not true. What people see in movies is just part of my work,” he said.

Arukwe noted that his portrayal of the Odogwu character significantly boosted his career, bringing him wider recognition and new opportunities in the industry.

“That role opened more doors for me. Many people now recognise me because of that character,” he added.
