Support from family and industry peers has played a central role in the promotion of Eleko, the latest film by veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko, as the historical biopic makes its way through cinemas.

In a recent interview, Kosoko described the journey of bringing the project to audiences as demanding, noting that the scale and subject matter of the film required sustained effort beyond production. He highlighted the contributions of his children and professional colleagues, many of whom, he said, stepped in voluntarily to help amplify the film’s reach.

According to him, their involvement has been instrumental in driving awareness and ensuring the story resonates with a wider audience, particularly given the historical weight of the project.

Eleko centres on the life of Oba Esugbayi Eleko, chronicling his resistance to British colonial authority, his eventual exile, and his return to Lagos. The film also explores broader themes of political tension, the role of traditional leadership, and the determination of Lagosians to preserve their cultural identity during a turbulent period.

By focusing on this chapter of history, the production sheds light on the intersection of colonial power and indigenous authority, while portraying the collective struggle to protect heritage and autonomy.

Reflecting on his longevity in the film industry, Kosoko attributed his enduring relevance to discipline and consistency. With a career spanning several decades, he emphasised that sustained success in Nollywood requires a strong work ethic and clear focus.

He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to remain active in the industry, framing his continued presence as both a privilege and a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to storytelling in Nigerian cinema.
