Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has triggered conversations across social media after revealing that he has officially changed the date he celebrates his birthday.

In a brief post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the former member of the iconic duo P-Square stated that November 18 will no longer be observed as his birthday. Instead, he announced that future celebrations will now take place on November 30, adding that he would not be acknowledging messages or gifts on the former date.

The singer did not provide any reasons for the change, describing it simply as a personal decision and asking fans for understanding.

Mr P has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, not only for his music but also for the long-running and widely publicised family disputes involving the Okoye brothers. He rose to fame alongside his twin brother, Paul Okoye, with whom he formed P-Square—one of Africa’s most successful music acts in the 2000s and early 2010s.

The group’s eventual split in 2017 followed years of internal disagreements, particularly over management issues linked to their elder brother, Jude Okoye. Disputes surrounding royalties, creative direction, and business control deepened the divide between the siblings.

Although the brothers reunited in 2021 to the excitement of fans, the comeback struggled to fully restore the dominance they once enjoyed. Reports later suggested that lingering tensions—especially around financial transparency and catalogue management—resurfaced, leading to fresh public disagreements and legal disputes.

Mr P’s latest announcement, while unrelated to the long-standing family issues on the surface, has nonetheless reignited public curiosity about the personal decisions and circumstances surrounding the artist.
