A public exchange over marriage perspectives has intensified online after Obasi Emmanuel, the ex-husband of actress Judy Austin, openly pushed back against recent comments made by actor https://www.brandiconimage.com/2026/04/respect-in-relationships-non-negotiable.html and gender roles.

Yul Edochie had earlier taken to social media to advise men not to tolerate what he described as disrespect in marriage, insisting that a man’s respect should be “non-negotiable.” The post quickly generated mixed reactions across social platforms, with users divided over his stance on marital expectations and emotional endurance in relationships.

Responding in a Facebook post on Thursday evening, Obasi Emmanuel dismissed the actor’s position, arguing that such an approach could lead to repeated relationship breakdowns. “If your only option is to run to another woman when you feel disrespected, you will build three football teams, including the fans, in your lifetime in the name of marriage,” he wrote, in a direct jab at Yul’s advice.

He further challenged the idea of absolute respect as a marital demand, suggesting that endurance and emotional control are key components of maturity in relationships. According to him, “If you can’t take or control a woman’s excesses, you are not yet a man; you’re a boy. So you have to be very careful,” adding that what he considers “real manhood” involves managing conflicts within marriage rather than exiting them.

The exchange also revived public attention on Obasi’s longstanding allegations against Judy Austin, including claims that he has been denied access to their children following the breakdown of their marriage and her subsequent relationship with Yul Edochie.
