The rollout of electric mobility infrastructure in Nigeria has received a fresh boost as Qoray commissioned a new electric vehicle charging station at the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino in Victoria Island, Lagos, strengthening access to fast-charging facilities in one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors.

The installation, located within the premises of Federal Palace Hotel & Casino, is now fully operational and open to the public. Its strategic positioning in the Victoria Island–Ikoyi axis places it at the heart of Lagos’ premium business and hospitality district, where demand for reliable mobility infrastructure continues to grow.

Building Momentum for Electric Mobility

Qoray describes the deployment as part of a broader effort to accelerate the adoption of clean transportation solutions across Nigeria. The company, which focuses on distributed clean energy and last-mile electric mobility systems, says the expansion of its charging network is aimed at reducing barriers to EV ownership while encouraging wider industry participation.

The latest installation reinforces a growing trend in Lagos, where private-sector players are increasingly stepping in to develop critical infrastructure for electric mobility. Qoray has positioned its rollout strategy around high-traffic urban corridors, with the goal of making charging access more practical for both individual drivers and commercial fleet operators.

High-Capacity Fast-Charging Infrastructure

The new facility is equipped with three 60kWh dual-gun DC fast chargers, capable of serving up to six vehicles simultaneously. Depending on vehicle type, the system can deliver a 20–80 percent charge in approximately 30 to 45 minutes, making it suitable for quick turnaround use in a dense urban environment.

The station is designed not only for private EV owners but also for corporate mobility services and fleet operations, reflecting a growing shift toward electrified transport solutions in business districts such as Victoria Island and Ikoyi.

By integrating the infrastructure into a premium hospitality setting, the project also introduces a convenience-driven model where users can charge vehicles while attending meetings, staying at the hotel, or engaging in leisure activities.

Partnership-Driven Clean Energy Push

Qoray founder and CEO Olabanjo Alimi described the project as part of a wider mission to embed clean energy solutions within everyday urban environments. According to him, expanding access to reliable charging infrastructure is key to removing friction in EV adoption and supporting the transition to smarter mobility systems in Nigeria.

The company emphasised that the initiative aligns with increasing demand for sustainable transport options in Lagos, particularly as urban congestion and environmental concerns push stakeholders toward greener alternatives.

Hospitality Sector Embraces Sustainability

The Federal Palace Hotel & Casino, operated under the leadership of executive director Anita Ibru, said the installation reflects its commitment to sustainability and enhanced guest experience. By integrating EV charging infrastructure into its premises, the hotel positions itself within a growing global trend where hospitality brands support low-carbon mobility solutions.

The partnership also highlights the role of corporate institutions in enabling Nigeria’s clean energy transition, particularly through collaborations that bring infrastructure closer to end users.

Outlook

As electric mobility gradually gains traction in Nigeria’s urban centres, developments such as the Qoray–Federal Palace installation signal early but important steps toward building a functional nationwide charging ecosystem. However, the pace of adoption will depend on broader factors, including vehicle affordability, policy support, and continued private-sector investment in supporting infrastructure.

For now, Lagos continues to emerge as the focal point of Nigeria’s EV transition, with strategic deployments like this helping to shape the foundation of a cleaner, more sustainable transport future.
