The new installment of the widely followed faith-based drama is scheduled to debut on November 15, 2026, with its first three episodes released simultaneously. Subsequent episodes will roll out weekly through December 6, maintaining the show’s staggered release strategy. In a notable expansion beyond streaming, the season finale is also planned for a standalone theatrical release in spring 2027.
Season 6 focuses on the climactic final day of Jesus Christ, presenting the events leading up to the crucifixion through multiple perspectives. According to the official synopsis, the narrative explores the tension between religious authorities, Roman governance, and Jesus’ followers—each interpreting the unfolding events through conflicting lenses of justice, order, and sacrifice. The series aims to portray the emotional and historical weight of these final hours, emphasizing their enduring global impact.
Creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins, who also serves as chairman and chief creative officer of 5&2 Studios, said the production team approached the season with an expanded vision. He noted that the story’s scale and significance warranted not only a television release but also a cinematic presentation, culminating in the theatrical debut of the finale.
The series continues to feature Jonathan Roumie in the lead role, supported by a returning ensemble cast including Shahar Isaac, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, George H. Xanthis, Abe Bueno-Jallad, Vanessa Benavente, Luke Dimyan, Richard Fancy, Paul Ben-Victor, and Andrew James Allen.
Produced by 5&2 Studios, the series has grown into a global phenomenon, drawing an audience of more than 300 million viewers worldwide. Its continued success underscores the rising demand for faith-based storytelling within mainstream entertainment, as well as the show’s ability to blend historical narrative with character-driven drama.
