A high-powered mix of government officials and leading figures from Nigeria’s creative industry has been assembled to shape the cultural direction of the forthcoming National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026, scheduled for May 5 in Abuja.

The organising team disclosed that the newly unveiled entertainment committee will spearhead creative and cultural engagements during the rally, which will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. The initiative is linked to the office of Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.

Announced via the organisers’ official Instagram platform on Sunday, the rally—tagged “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice! One Movement!! One Choice!!!”—is projected to draw millions of women from across Nigeria, positioning it as one of the largest gatherings focused on women’s empowerment in the country.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, the organisers emphasised the broader significance of the committee’s role, describing it as central to amplifying the spirit of unity and creativity underpinning the movement.

“This is more than entertainment; it reflects the energy of a movement in action—celebrating women, showcasing culture, and inspiring a nation through creativity and unity,” the statement noted.

The committee is chaired by Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, while Hannatu Musa Musawa, Rachael Umahi, and Ramatu Tijani will serve as co-chairpersons.

A number of prominent Nollywood personalities and cultural figures have also been enlisted as members, including Rahama Sadau, Eniola Badmus, Joke Silva, Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, Fausat Balogun, and Sola Kosoko, among others drawn from across the entertainment landscape.

According to the organisers, the committee’s mandate includes coordinating performances and other creative elements to ensure the rally remains vibrant, engaging, and memorable for attendees.

The event itself is designed as a fusion of empowerment programmes and cultural showcases, aimed at mobilising women nationwide while reinforcing a shared sense of purpose and collective voice.
