A significant boost has come for Achievers University following the approval of seven academic programmes by the National Universities Commission, reinforcing the institution’s growing academic reputation.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the university’s Head of Media and Publicity, Olaniyi Adekanye, who disclosed that the newly accredited courses span critical disciplines. These include Medical Laboratory Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microbiology, Criminology and Security Studies, and Sociology—fields considered vital to both national development and evolving global demands.

According to the statement, the approval followed a comprehensive evaluation process by the Commission. “In a formal correspondence to the university dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Commission’s Director of Accreditation, the NUC confirms that all the programmes presented by the university met its rigorous quality assurance standards, covering curriculum content, staffing, infrastructure, library resources, and academic delivery. Full accreditation is the highest status granted by the Commission and is valid for a period of five years.”

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Oyesoji Aremu, described the milestone as both affirming and strategic for the university’s future. He noted that the recognition reflects years of deliberate investment in academic excellence, particularly in faculty development, modern laboratory infrastructure, and continuous curriculum updates aligned with global best practices.

Reacting to the announcement, Aremu said the news was “cheering and a good one to start the week,” underscoring the morale boost it brings to staff and students alike. He extended congratulations to the Governing Council led by Pro-Chancellor Bode Ayorinde, as well as to the institution’s principal officers and wider university community.

Beyond celebration, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for sustained commitment. He urged stakeholders within the university to remain focused on maintaining and improving standards, stressing that the accreditation is not just an endpoint but a call to further strengthen the institution’s academic delivery.

The approval positions Achievers University to deepen its contribution to higher education in Nigeria, particularly in producing graduates equipped with both technical expertise and critical thinking skills. As competition intensifies within the university system, such endorsements from the National Universities Commission serve as key indicators of quality, credibility, and institutional progress.
