The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked candidates to remain patient following a delay in the activation of the portal for printing the original result slips for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the board said the process has not yet commenced because of ongoing administrative and examination-related procedures.

“The printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip has not yet been activated. Candidates are kindly urged to be patient as the Board has just concluded the foreign examinations and is also preparing to conduct the mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to sit for the main examination through no fault of theirs,” the statement read.

JAMB explained that the UTME operates as a ranking examination, meaning candidates’ performance is not only about raw scores but also about comparative placement among peers. This, the board noted, is why result slips containing official rankings cannot be released until all related processes are finalized.

“Candidates are reminded that the UTME is a ranking examination, and the Original Result Slip contains the ranking of candidates. Consequently, all necessary processes must be completed before the slips can be released,” Fabian Benjamin stated.

The board further assured that the printing portal would be activated once ongoing adjustments and final preparations are completed, emphasizing that the delay is temporary.

“As soon as the necessary adjustments are concluded, the printing portal will be activated. This will be done shortly, and candidates will be duly informed when to proceed with the printing of their result slips,” the statement added.

JAMB also issued an apology to candidates and stakeholders, urging understanding as it works to finalize both the mop-up examinations and related administrative steps.

The delay has, however, triggered concern among candidates nationwide, many of whom say they need immediate access to their results to guide post-UTME applications, institutional screening processes, and decisions on course or institution changes.

While official result slip printing remains on hold, JAMB has previously allowed candidates to check results via SMS using their registered phone numbers, offering a temporary alternative for score verification.

The development comes shortly after the board set the 2026 UTME university admission cut-off mark at 150, a benchmark that will shape entry requirements across Nigerian tertiary institutions in the upcoming admission cycle.
