CHINI AFRICA, organisers of the Pitcher Festival, confirmed that the highly anticipated event will now hold from May 28 to May 30, 2026, instead of the earlier scheduled May 14 to 16 dates.
The organisers explained that the adjustment is designed to allow judges more time to thoroughly assess entries submitted for the Pitcher Awards, widely regarded as one of the continent’s highest benchmarks for creative excellence.
According to the festival team, the revised timeline will ensure that “outstanding works deserving recognition” are given careful consideration before winners are selected.
Registration for the festival is expected to open on Monday, May 18, alongside the release of the full programme schedule on the official Pitcher Festival website.
The three-day celebration will begin with the unveiling of shortlisted entries for the prestigious Pitcher Awards, setting the tone for an immersive gathering of Africa’s brightest creative minds.
Attendees can also expect a series of engaging sessions under the Pitcher Talks segment, where industry leaders and professionals will discuss emerging trends, innovation, storytelling, and the future of African creativity.
Another major highlight will be the “Building the Future” sessions, featuring updates from the Young Pitcher Academy and the Future Pitcher Academy — initiatives focused on nurturing the next generation of African creative talent.
The organisers also revealed plans for a special “Inside the Jury Room” experience, offering participants a rare behind-the-scenes look into the judging process, including what stood out to jurors and how winning decisions are made.
Beyond conversations and learning sessions, the festival will host the final competitions for both the Young Pitcher and Future Pitcher categories, giving rising creatives an opportunity to showcase their ideas on a continental stage.
The event will conclude with the highly anticipated Pitcher Awards Show, where winners across several categories, alongside special honourees, will be celebrated for exceptional contributions to the creative industry. The complete list of winners will subsequently be published on the Pitcher Festival website.
Speaking on expectations for the festival, Chief Executive Officer of CHINI AFRICA, Dr. Nnamdi Ndu, said the 2026 edition is designed to spotlight the depth and diversity of African creativity.
“The festival promises to showcase the very best of African creativity across all areas; the main awards, the archive, impact projects, the academies, the talks, and the showcase,” he stated.
With its blend of recognition, learning, networking, and talent development, the 2026 Pitcher Festival is expected to further cement its reputation as one of Africa’s most influential gatherings for the creative and communications industry.
