The President described the development as a strong endorsement of Neliaku’s professionalism, leadership qualities, and contributions to the advancement of ethical and strategic public relations practice both within Nigeria and internationally.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the re-election reflects Nigeria’s expanding influence in the global communication industry and highlights the growing recognition being accorded to Nigerian professionals on the international stage.
Victory Secured at Global Meeting in Prague
Dr Neliaku secured the renewed mandate during the Annual General Meeting of the Global Alliance Board held in Prague after a closely contested election involving representatives from member countries around the world.
The renewed tenure means he will continue representing both Nigerian and broader African interests in global public relations governance over the next two years.
President Tinubu praised Neliaku for what he described as sustained dedication to professionalism, transparency, innovation, and excellence in communication management.
The President also expressed confidence that Neliaku’s continued presence on the Board would help deepen international collaboration and contribute to the professional growth of the public relations industry globally.
Recognition Comes Months After Global Award Win
The re-election comes only a few months after the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations achieved international recognition by emerging as the 2025 Global Public Relations Association at the prestigious World Public Relations and Communication Award held in Lisbon.
At the time, President Tinubu had commended both Neliaku and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for providing leadership that led to the institute’s historic global achievement.
Over Three Decades of Industry Experience
A Fellow of NIPR (FNIPR), Dr Neliaku is widely regarded as an experienced communication professional and entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience spanning development communication and public relations practice across both public and private sectors.
He was elected as the 15th President and Chairman of the Council of NIPR on August 25, 2023.
President Tinubu wished him continued success in his renewed global role, noting that his leadership and achievements continue to project Nigeria positively within the international public relations community.
