“The hall was filled, there were cameras everywhere, and there was noise. But in those infinite seconds when my name was announced, everything became very quiet.”
He explained that while many expected overwhelming emotion, what truly washed over him was a flood of memories from the uncertain early stages of his acting journey. Still, Arukwe insisted the award is not the destination. Instead, he sees it as motivation to continue pursuing meaningful storytelling and artistic excellence.

With the AMVCA title now attached to his name, Arukwe believes the nature of opportunities presented to him will inevitably change. He explained that prestigious recognition often creates access and influence that previously required years of negotiation.
According to him, the win now gives him greater authority to engage filmmakers and producers in conversations about the type of stories he wants to tell and the quality of projects he intends to pursue.

He also expressed excitement about Nollywood’s growing international visibility, describing the industry’s global expansion as promising but still delicate. Arukwe argued that achievements like his help strengthen the perception that Nigerian cinema possesses a deep pool of talent capable of competing globally.
The Quiet Sacrifices Behind the Spotlight
Away from the glamour of the awards ceremony, Arukwe revealed that the victory felt especially meaningful because it validated difficult decisions made privately over the years.

“The projects I walked away from when doing so was financially painful. The standards I held myself to when lowering them would have been easier and largely undetectable.”
