Nigerian music star Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, has shared insights into his decision to relocate to the United States, citing the high cost of living and security concerns in Lagos as major factors behind the move.

The singer made the revelation during a recent TikTok livestream, where he compared his experiences in Nigeria's commercial capital with life in the United States. According to him, despite the economic challenges faced by people in America, he has found the environment to be less stressful and more secure.

BNXN noted that one of the striking differences he observed after relocating was the absence of constant requests for money from strangers, a situation he said is common on the streets of Lagos.

Speaking candidly during the livestream, the artiste said:

“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here.”

The "Finesse" hitmaker went on to argue that Lagos has become increasingly expensive, claiming that the city now rivals and, in some respects, exceeds the cost of living in major American cities.

“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive.”

He further explained that the structure of living expenses in the United States is more straightforward, particularly when it comes to recurring costs.

“For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good.”

BNXN's remarks have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians weighing in on the rising cost of living in Lagos and the everyday challenges residents face. His comments add to a growing debate about affordability, security, and quality of life in Nigeria's largest city, as more young professionals and entertainers continue to explore opportunities abroad.

While opinions remain divided on whether Lagos is truly more expensive than cities like Los Angeles, BNXN's experience highlights the frustrations many residents express about the financial pressures and social realities of living in the bustling metropolis.
