Popular comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has taken a significant step into partisan politics after emerging as the BOOT Party's candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly election in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His emergence followed a successful outing at the party's primary election, where he secured the mandate to fly the party's flag in the forthcoming legislative contest.
Announcing the development on his Instagram page on Wednesday night, DeeOne expressed appreciation to members of the BOOT Party for the trust reposed in him and for supporting his candidacy during the primary process.
Reflecting on his victory, the entertainer-turned-politician said:
"I want to thank my party, BOOT Party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I."
DeeOne also used the opportunity to address residents of the constituency, assuring them of a people-centred style of leadership if elected into office in 2027. According to him, public service should be driven by responsibility and accountability rather than authority.
Emphasising his commitment to serving the people, he stated:
"To Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I, come 2027, by the grace of God, I will be your worker and not your boss."
His entry into the race adds to the growing list of Nigerian entertainers seeking elective positions as the country gradually moves towards another election cycle.
