Returning to Where It All Began, Olaifa Sets Vision for the Future of Marketing Communications

Insight Redefini Group, widely regarded as one of Nigeria and West Africa’s most extensive integrated marketing communications networks and a member of Publicis Groupe, has announced the appointment of Babatunde Olaifa as its new Group Chief Executive Officer.

The leadership change marks a significant moment for the organisation, not only because of Olaifa’s return to the group where his career first began over 20 years ago, but also because of the evolving expectations placed on modern marketing communications firms navigating a rapidly shifting global business landscape.

For Olaifa, the appointment carries a personal and professional resonance. It represents a return to familiar ground at a time when the industry itself is undergoing structural transformation driven by technology, data, and changing consumer behaviour.

“I am returning with a deeper understanding of the challenges businesses face today,” he said. “The world has changed dramatically. Consumers are more connected, markets are more volatile, technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and organisations are under increasing pressure to deliver measurable value. The role of agencies must evolve accordingly.”

His reflections point to a broader shift within the industry, where agencies are increasingly expected to function not just as creative partners, but as strategic problem-solvers embedded in business growth and transformation.

According to Olaifa, the modern client landscape demands more than campaign development. It requires partners capable of navigating complex operational realities, including digital transformation, data management, and evolving consumer expectations.

“Businesses are looking for partners that can help solve real problems, not just create campaigns,” he said. “The opportunity before us is to combine creativity, technology, data, strategy and culture to help clients unlock growth and navigate complexity. That is where the future of our industry lies.”

He also highlighted the growing role of emerging technologies in reshaping the boundaries of marketing communications, particularly artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, which he believes are expanding rather than replacing creative capacity.

“For years, creativity has been our strength. Today, we have an opportunity to complement that strength with deeper business understanding, stronger analytical capabilities and emerging technologies that allow us to create greater value for clients. Technology is not replacing creativity; it is amplifying what creativity can achieve.”

Before returning to Insight Redefini Group, Olaifa served as Country Head of GoMyCode Nigeria, where he focused on digital education and talent development. His earlier career spans leadership roles at X3M Ideas and Prima Garnet Ogilvy, as well as a stint at Google, where he worked as SMB Business Development Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting digital adoption and business growth initiatives across the region.

He said these varied experiences will now inform his leadership approach as he seeks to deepen the group’s integrated capabilities while fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous reinvention.

“Insight Redefini has always been known for creativity, bold thinking and industry leadership. The next chapter is about building on that legacy while preparing for the future. We want to create an environment where talent can experiment, innovate and solve business challenges in new ways.”

“Our ambition is simple. We want to be indispensable to our clients. We want to be involved not only when a campaign is needed, but when business challenges need solving. We want to sit at the intersection of creativity, technology, culture and commerce, helping organisations navigate change and seize opportunities.”

The group said the appointment aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading integrated growth partner for businesses across Nigeria and West Africa.

Backed by the global infrastructure and capabilities of Publicis Groupe, the organisation continues to position itself at the intersection of creativity, data intelligence, and technology-driven solutions designed to keep brands competitive in an increasingly complex marketplace.

Insight Redefini Group, a member of Troyka Holdings, oversees a portfolio that includes Insight Publicis, Leo Burnett Lagos, All Seasons Zenith, Starcom Media Perspectives, Quadrant MSL, Digitas, and Publicis Nourish.

For Olaifa, the new role represents both continuity and change—a return to familiar roots paired with a renewed mandate to help reshape how agencies create value in a business environment defined by speed, disruption, and constant reinvention.

“The industry is evolving, and so are we,” he said. “This is a moment to rediscover our sense of adventure, embrace new possibilities and build stronger bridges between creativity and business growth. That is the future we are committed to creating.”
