Nigerian actress, model and media personality Nancy Isime has spoken candidly about how her family’s financial decline shaped her ambition and work ethic, revealing that the experience ultimately became a turning point in her journey to success.
Speaking on the Tea With Tay podcast, Isime reflected on her upbringing, explaining that she once enjoyed the comfort of a financially stable household before circumstances changed dramatically.
According to her, the shift in her family’s fortunes forced her to confront a new reality, but instead of discouraging her, it strengthened her resolve to succeed independently.
She noted that the experience reinforced her long-standing desire to build a career for herself and create lasting wealth through hard work and consistency.
“I was born with a silver spoon, and I lost it. My dad was pretty wealthy at some point, but then things changed,” she said.
Despite the setback, she explained that her mindset remained focused on ambition and self-determination.
“I’ve always known I wanted to work. I know for a fact that I’m destined to live a good life, I’m destined to roll in money, I’m destined to look like money, so you know what? Let’s work for it.”
Setback Becomes Motivation
Isime said the experience of losing financial stability ultimately reshaped her perspective on success, teaching her the value of persistence, discipline and personal responsibility.
Rather than viewing the change in circumstances as a limitation, she described it as fuel that pushed her to work harder in building her career in entertainment.
She added that this mindset has remained central to her rise in Nigeria’s film and media industry, where she has established herself as one of the most recognisable faces on screen and television.
