Musical talent and dedication took centre stage at the grand finale of the 6th Abuja National Music Competition, where students from schools across the Federal Capital Territory and other states showcased their skills in a celebration of creativity, artistry and excellence.

The highly anticipated event, held over the weekend, featured impressive vocal and instrumental performances from young musicians competing in various categories. Participants battled for top honours before a panel of respected music professionals, with winners receiving cash rewards and other prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.

Among the standout performers were two students of Premiere Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, who emerged as the biggest winners of the competition.

Jaja Soibifaa and Iwugo Michael were crowned Star Winners after delivering exceptional performances in the Vocal and Piano categories respectively. Their remarkable displays earned them the highest individual honours of the competition, with each receiving a cash prize of N250,000.

Jaja Soibifaa secured the coveted Star Prize in the Vocal Category after impressing judges with a performance that highlighted both technical ability and artistic expression. In the Piano Category, Iwugo Michael outperformed other contestants to claim the top prize, further cementing Premiere Academy's reputation for nurturing exceptional musical talent.

The Abuja National Music Competition was established to encourage creativity and artistic development among students between the ages of six and eighteen. The initiative is also committed to preserving and promoting the richness of Nigerian music by providing a platform for talented young vocalists and instrumentalists from primary and secondary schools nationwide.

Organisers noted that this year's edition focused on discovering, supporting and celebrating young musicians who have demonstrated extraordinary artistic mastery and commitment to their craft. Beyond the prizes, the competition provided participants with valuable opportunities for learning, exposure and personal growth.

Contestants benefitted from professional mentorship sessions and the chance to perform before an expert jury made up of renowned music practitioners. The event also encouraged students to embrace healthy competition as a means of developing confidence, discipline and creativity.

Reacting to the achievements of the school's representatives, Premiere Academy's Music Instructor and Team Lead, Mr. Israel Olorundare, described the victory as another testament to the institution's commitment to excellence in music education.

According to him, the performances delivered by the students have once again demonstrated that Premiere Academy continues to produce talented young musicians capable of excelling on national platforms.
