A murder investigation has been launched in London after the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian musician Talay Riley, whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, with police confirming that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The 35-year-old artist reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds during a violent confrontation at a residential property on Rayleigh Road on Friday. Emergency services rushed to the scene following distress calls, but despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the location.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service said they arrived at the property alongside ambulance crews and found the victim critically injured in the garden area. Formal identification is still underway, but authorities have confirmed his identity as Orabiyi.

Specialist officers have since been assigned to support his grieving family, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death continue.

In a heartfelt tribute, his family described him as a loving and vibrant presence whose kindness and talent left a lasting impact on those around him.

“Mark brought joy, kindness and warmth to everyone around him. His remarkable talent and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will remain with us forever,” the family said.

Police also confirmed that two additional individuals were injured during the incident. A 20-year-old man sustained multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Following the attack, three suspects — two men and one woman — were arrested. One of the suspects, a 27-year-old man, has since been released on bail pending further investigation. The remaining two suspects, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were released with no further action after questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the incident as deeply tragic and urged members of the public to assist detectives with any relevant information.

“This is a deeply upsetting incident, and our thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation is progressing, and we urge anyone who was in the area at the time or may have captured relevant CCTV or video footage to contact the police,” she said.

Authorities say inquiries remain ongoing as detectives work to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the fatal stabbing and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the attack.
