Wema Bank has disbursed a total of ₦17.96 million to 273 customers within the first month of launching Season 5 of its flagship 5 for 5 Rewards campaign, underscoring the growing impact of the initiative and the bank’s commitment to rewarding customer loyalty.

The latest edition of the rewards programme, unveiled on May 2, 2026, as part of activities marking Wema Bank’s 81st anniversary, was designed to provide a more inclusive and structured framework for customer rewards. The initiative targets key customer segments including youths, women, and mass-market customers, while encouraging healthy financial habits through regular banking activities.

The campaign got off to a strong start with a special anniversary activation at Ikeja City Mall, where 81 customers each received ₦81,000. The launch-day event alone saw the bank distribute ₦6.56 million in cash rewards, setting the tone for what has become an active and engaging customer incentive programme.

Since the launch, the rewards platform has continued to attract participation from customers nationwide through its daily and monthly draws. Within the first month, an additional 192 customers emerged as winners, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 273.

In the Youth category, the bank rewarded 37 students with a combined ₦4.4 million. While 20 students received ₦50,000 each through the PocketMoni reward scheme, another 17 university students benefited from tuition support grants of ₦200,000 each, providing financial assistance towards their academic pursuits.

The Women segment also recorded notable participation. Under the #SelfCare category, 12 female customers received ₦150,000 each, reinforcing the bank’s efforts to support and empower women through targeted reward initiatives.

The Mass Market category produced the highest number of winners during the period under review. A total of 120 customers received daily cash rewards, while 23 additional customers won ₦200,000 each in the monthly draw. Altogether, rewards distributed within the category amounted to ₦5.2 million.

Speaking on the success recorded within the first month of the campaign, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, emphasised the institution’s commitment to delivering tangible value to customers.

“At Wema Bank, we believe loyalty should be rewarded in ways that are meaningful, transparent and accessible. The response to Season 5 of the 5 for 5 Rewards campaign has been encouraging, and seeing hundreds of customers benefit within just one month reinforces our belief that everyday banking should create everyday opportunities,” he said.

According to him, the initiative goes beyond rewarding transactions and is aimed at fostering positive financial behaviour among customers.

“Beyond rewarding transactions, we are encouraging positive financial habits while delivering real value to our customers,” he added.

Oseni further noted that the campaign is only beginning, with more opportunities and reward categories lined up for customers in the coming months.

“This is only the beginning. With more reward categories, more winners and more opportunities still ahead, we remain committed to creating meaningful impact for our customers and ensuring more Nigerians experience the value of banking with Wema,” he stated.

To qualify for the campaign, customers are required to open or reactivate a Wema Bank account, fund it with a minimum of ₦5,000, maintain an average monthly balance of at least ₦5,000, and complete a minimum of five transactions monthly using the ALAT app, Wema or ALAT debit cards, or the bank’s *945# banking service.

With over ₦170 million set aside for rewards between May and December 2026, the bank expects thousands more customers to benefit from the programme. The initiative remains a key part of Wema Bank’s broader strategy to reward loyalty, encourage responsible financial behaviour, and deliver value beyond traditional banking services.
