Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has dismissed allegations that he prevented Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of his wife, Judy Austin, from having access to his children.
The actor responded publicly after claims surfaced online suggesting that he played a role in stopping Obasi from seeing the children he shares with Judy Austin.
Addressing the issue through his social media platform on Friday, Edochie maintained that he had never interfered in matters relating to parental access and insisted that any concerns should be discussed directly between Obasi and his former wife.
According to the actor, some of his followers had contacted him regarding the allegations and urged him to allow the children’s father access to them.
Reacting to those appeals, Edochie stated:
“Some of my fans have reached out to me, saying, ‘pls allow him to see his children’.
“I have never stopped anybody from seeing his children.”
The actor further suggested that social media had become a platform where some individuals seek attention and public sympathy rather than addressing personal issues privately.
“In this era of social media, people prefer chasing clout and chasing social media money with my name, rather than doing the right thing.”
Edochie argued that the matter should be resolved directly between the children's biological parents, stressing that he was not responsible for decisions regarding access or custody.
“Tell him to call his ex-wife, if he wants to see or take his children, let them discuss it.
“He has her number. It has nothing to do with me.”
The comments come amid ongoing public interest in the personal lives of Edochie and Judy Austin, whose relationship has frequently generated discussion across social media and entertainment circles.
While Emmanuel Obasi has previously made public statements regarding his relationship with Judy Austin and access to their children, Edochie's latest response seeks to distance himself from the dispute, maintaining that any resolution lies solely between the former couple.
As of the time of reporting, neither Judy Austin nor Emmanuel Obasi had publicly responded to Edochie's latest remarks.
The development has continued to attract mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics weighing in on the family dispute and the role social media plays in personal matters involving public figures.
