AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has announced the resignation of its Non-Executive Director, Melina Cotlar, who stepped down from the Board effective May 29, following a tenure that began after receiving regulatory approval in April 2023.

The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing on Thursday, confirming her departure from the Board Technical and Risk Management Committee, where she had played an active governance role since her appointment.

In its statement, AXA Mansard acknowledged her contributions during her time on the Board, noting that her input supported the company’s strategic and operational oversight.

“The Board and Management of the Company commend Ms. Melina Cotlar for her positive contribution and service to the growth of the Company during her tenure on the Board,” the insurance company stated.

Cotlar’s exit marks a governance change within the insurer, which continues to strengthen its board structure amid evolving regulatory and market demands in Nigeria’s insurance sector.

A trained actuarial scientist and risk management specialist, Cotlar brings extensive international experience spanning consulting and corporate risk oversight. She began her career in 2004 as a Research Assistant with FIEL before moving into consulting, including a significant stint at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she spent over six years and rose to Manager in the Actuarial & Risk Management team.

During her time at PwC, she was responsible for overseeing risk management operations across the firm’s offices in Argentina and Israel, further deepening her cross-border regulatory and financial expertise.

She studied actuarial science at the University of Buenos Aires and later pursued advanced training in Financial Risk Management at the University of Ariel in Israel. She also completed management studies at the University of San Andrés, strengthening her leadership and technical capabilities in financial governance.

Her resignation brings to a close a brief but impactful period on the AXA Mansard Board, where she contributed to risk governance and technical oversight within the insurance firm’s leadership structure.
