Excitement is building ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final as Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy and Colombian global music star Shakira shared a warm reunion during rehearsals for what promises to be a landmark halftime performance.

The two award-winning artistes were spotted at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where final preparations are underway for Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown between Spain and Argentina. Their reunion offered fans a glimpse behind the scenes as FIFA gears up for the first-ever halftime show in the history of a FIFA World Cup final.

Burna Boy shared a video of the moment on his X account, showing him and Shakira exchanging smiles, laughter and a heartfelt embrace while rehearsing for the global spectacle. Alongside the clip, the Grammy-winning singer teased fans about the performance, writing: "See you at the halftime show."

FIFA had earlier announced that Burna Boy and Shakira would headline the historic entertainment segment with a performance of "Dai Dai," the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The song was first unveiled during the tournament's opening ceremony in Mexico City, where both stars delivered its debut performance before a global audience.

Sunday’s halftime event is expected to redefine World Cup entertainment. Unlike the traditional 15-minute interval, the break has reportedly been extended to accommodate the elaborate production, making room for an expanded musical showcase and accompanying festivities.

The performance is also expected to feature an impressive lineup of international stars, including BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, acclaimed Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay's PS22 Chorus, as well as special appearances from beloved Sesame Street and The Muppets characters.

Beyond the entertainment, the World Cup final itself is set to deliver a thrilling contest as Spain take on Argentina in a match expected to attract hundreds of millions of viewers across the globe. With football and music sharing the spotlight, Sunday's final is shaping up to be one of the most memorable events in FIFA World Cup history.

For Burna Boy, the performance marks another milestone in his growing international career, reinforcing Afrobeats' presence on one of the world's biggest sporting stages, while Shakira returns to football's grand stage, adding another iconic World Cup performance to her celebrated legacy.
