Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has continued his remarkable global streaming dominance after emerging as the leading Nigerian artist on YouTube Music’s latest rankings.
The Grammy Award-winning singer recorded a massive 644 million monthly audience on the platform, placing him ahead of some of Nigeria’s biggest music exports currently making waves internationally.
The latest YouTube Music rankings, reviewed by our correspondent on Monday, showed that Burna Boy leads the country’s top five acts on the platform with 6.41 million subscribers and 644 million monthly audience.
Other Nigerian artists featured among the top rankings include Asake, Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, and Davido.
According to the figures, Asake recorded 2.06 million subscribers and 11.6 million monthly audience, while Wizkid had 3.67 million subscribers with 24.2 million monthly audience.
Davido, who remains one of Africa’s most commercially successful artists, recorded 5.04 million subscribers and 25.4 million monthly audience, while Seyi Vibez ranked with 500,000 subscribers and 3.28 million monthly audience.
The ranking further highlighted the growing global reach of Nigerian music, with several younger artists also making significant appearances on the platform.
Among the acts listed in YouTube Music’s top 10 Nigerian artists were Omah Lay, who recorded 2.78 million subscribers; BNXN with 506,000 subscribers; Young Jonn with 457,000 subscribers; Rema with 5.55 million subscribers; and Odumodublvck with 310,000 subscribers.
Burna Boy’s latest achievement adds to a series of international streaming milestones that have strengthened his reputation as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary musicians.
The “African Giant” recently became the African artist with the highest monthly listeners on Spotify, reaching 46.84 million monthly listeners and surpassing South African singer Tyla’s previous record of 46.58 million.
The Spotify achievement was largely attributed to the global performance of his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira, titled “Dai Dai.”
The song gained international attention after being selected as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and performed during the tournament’s opening ceremony, further expanding Burna Boy’s audience across different regions.
The continued rise of Burna Boy and other Nigerian artists on major streaming platforms reflects the increasing influence of Afrobeats on the global music industry.
From record-breaking streams to international collaborations and major global appearances, Nigerian artistes have continued to strengthen their presence in international markets, with Burna Boy remaining at the forefront of the movement.
