Nigeria National League (NNL) club Godswill Akpabio United FC are set to appoint Edward Green as their new head coach following the departure of Lawrence Kingsley from the position.

Green has been identified as the preferred candidate to lead the Uyo-based side and is expected to sign a two-year contract with the club.

The young tactician replaces Kingsley, who stepped down from his role last week after guiding the team during the previous phase of the campaign.

Green arrives with experience from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), having served as assistant coach at Rivers United last season.

Before his stint with the Port Harcourt-based club, he also worked as an assistant coach with Akwa United and Sporting Lagos, gaining valuable experience within Nigeria’s top-flight football structure.

He was part of the Sporting Lagos technical crew that secured promotion to the NPFL in 2024, helping the club achieve a historic rise to the elite division.

Godswill Akpabio United will be hoping Green’s tactical knowledge and previous promotion experience can help the club achieve its ambitions in the NNL as they prepare for the next stage of the season.
