LG’s ‘Make Life Good’ Reality Series Showcases Technology-Driven Community Transformations in Africa

LG Electronics has concluded the first season of its pan-African reality series, “Make Life Good,” highlighting how innovative technology can drive social impact, empower communities and improve everyday living across Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.

Produced in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, and hosted by acclaimed actress Jessica Dlamini, the series combined storytelling, community support and LG’s technological solutions to showcase how purposeful innovation can transform lives.

Across six episodes, the reality series featured influential African achievers returning to communities that played important roles in their personal journeys. Working with LG, they led meaningful interventions aimed at creating improved learning environments, safer spaces and opportunities for growth.

The initiative reflects LG Electronics’ commitment to its Life’s Good philosophy, which focuses on combining innovation, compassion and community action to create lasting positive change.

Each episode demonstrated how technology can be used beyond convenience, serving as a practical tool for solving everyday challenges and improving the quality of life for individuals and communities.

Speaking on the impact of the programme, host Jessica Dlamini said the series was about more than physical transformation, describing it as a celebration of gratitude, purpose and giving back.

“What makes Make Life Good special is that it goes beyond transformation. It celebrates gratitude, purpose and giving back. Behind every successful person is a community, a mentor, a caregiver, or a safe space that helped shape their journey. Throughout this series, we have witnessed extraordinary individuals return to those places and create meaningful change for the next generation within 24 hours. These stories remind us that when people and technology come together with purpose, remarkable things happen,” she said.

Throughout the season, LG technologies played a central role in improving facilities and creating more functional environments.

In the first episode, former Nigerian goalkeeper William Okpara led the transformation of a school sports facility where young athletes lacked adequate laundry and changing room facilities. LG provided a Washing Machine, Dryer and xboom Stage 301 Audio System, helping create a cleaner and more motivating environment for students pursuing sporting excellence.

The second episode featured renowned mountaineer Saray Khumalo, who supported a community transformation project with LG’s InstaView Refrigerator, NeoChef Microwave Oven and Dishwasher. The upgraded facility benefited from improved food storage, meal preparation and operational efficiency.

Award-winning filmmaker Adze Ugah was featured in the third episode, where he partnered with the BBM Foundation’s Bold Men Skills Programme in South Africa. The vocational training centre received upgrades including a 100-inch LG QNED TV, XBOOM Audio System and DualCool Inverter Air Conditioner, creating a modern learning environment for trainees developing vocational and digital skills.

The fourth episode highlighted Esther Munyi’s efforts to improve a children’s care facility through the introduction of an LG InstaView Refrigerator, NeoChef Microwave Oven and Washing Machine. The intervention helped improve daily operations, allowing caregivers to focus more attention on supporting vulnerable children.

In the fifth episode, LG supported the creation of a safe and empowering communal space for young women rebuilding their lives after difficult experiences. The transformation provided improved comfort, functionality and opportunities for learning and personal development.

The season finale featured Perpetual Kendi, who transformed a youth-focused community facility using LG Smart TV and premium Audio System solutions. The upgraded space now supports creativity, learning and community engagement for younger generations.

Throughout the series, LG products — including refrigerators, laundry solutions, entertainment systems and air conditioners — served as tools for addressing practical needs and enhancing daily experiences.

Commenting on the initiative, Managing Director of LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr Hyoung Sub Ji, said the company believes innovation should extend beyond products and contribute to meaningful social progress.

“At LG Electronics, we believe true innovation extends beyond technology. It is about creating solutions that improve lives and help communities thrive. Through Make Life Good, we have shown how our products can address everyday challenges while contributing to meaningful social impact. Every community transformed through this initiative demonstrates our commitment to making life better for customers and communities across Africa,” he said.

The Make Life Good reality series reinforces the idea that technology becomes most impactful when combined with empathy, collaboration and a commitment to community development.

From schools and vocational centres to care facilities and youth-focused spaces, the initiative has demonstrated how innovation can create opportunities, restore confidence and help communities across Africa achieve greater potential.
